Firefox Campaign Feedbacks
Hello Guys, Recently I am working with Mozilla for Firefox Campaign. They have given a chance to me to showcase my skills of how to make people/students aware about Firefox, Mozilla and its mission. Thanks to Mozilla :) At present, I have conducted two successful workshops in two Jaipur's school. First Workshop on 13th August, 2009 and second Workshop on 27th August, 2009. I am writing the whole thing/feedbacks which I observed/received during the workshops. In my first workshop, 230 students turned up and second workshop 46 students was the turn up :) I am quite happy that people are really interested in FOSS/Firefox related Workshops, people/students really wanted to know these things. In First Workshop, students were mainly school kids from 10th,11th, 12th standard. Workshops started with formal introduction of "Web Browsers" , which web browser to use etc. I was not surprised that about 75% students said Microshit Internet Explorer, than I started to give introduction of Mozilla Firefox to them, workshop was pretty awesome, you can find the complete report of it HERE. In second Workshop, students were mainly from 12th standard. This Workshop started with discussion between proprietary Softwares and Free/Open Source Softwares. Students were really interested about the topic, I thought that was the best starting which I had in any workshop. Than I started telling about the Web Browsers and than switch over to Mozilla Firefox, you can find the complete report of it HERE. At last I gave the feedback forms to students to fill them up with their views about the Workshop, What they think/expect in future workshops on Mozilla Firefox. Lots of feedback forms, 230 feedbacks forms from first workshop and 46 feedbacks forms from second workshop. I anaylized all feedback forms and made a compiled report for you guys, so that you can see what students want to learn and what they want in FOSS/Firefox related talks. You can see/download the feedback form which I have given to the students HERE. My First question in the feedback form- "Was the presenter clear and audible?" Out of total 276 students: My Second question in the feedback form- "Was the presentation interesting and did it offer new information?" Out of total 276 students: chart2 My Third question in the feedback form- "Additional Comments?" This particular question received very funny answers by the students, approx. 42% students said that my examples were "desi" in style, they were easily understood by any person, till now, I am laughing on these kind of answers, lol. :D By those answers, I understood that students want to be explained in mother tongue rather than in other languages, but that might be the case with north India only, don't know about south India. Some students want more volunteer to explain them, this is the most important answer for me and you guys, as one person can't give BOF sessions and all stuffs, so rep can gather volunteers or take other reps in there region in these kind of big workshops/events, because one person can't clear doubts of all people/students. Our aim is to clear doubts of all people/students who attends the workshop. My Fourth question in the feedback form- "Will you use Mozilla Firefox in future to surf the websites?" Out of total 276 students: chart3 So, in India, there are much scope to spread Firefox, as approx. 75% don't use Firefox, so reps spread Firefox/Mozilla in your region :) My last and fifth question in the feedback form- "What would you like to see in the next workshop on Mozilla Firefox?" This is the most important question in the feedback form, as students really want many different things after one introduction type workshop/event. Out of 276 students: chart4 148 students want next workshop on "Firefox Add-ons" or "Add-ons Structure" or "How Add-ons are made for Firefox?" So, reps its our duty to tell them about Add-ons and all stuff or direct them to nicely available Firefox Add-ons online resources, so that they can get what they want or if any rep is interested in big workshop/event, he/she can include this topic/talk on his/her workshop/event. 55 students want more information about the F/OSS related things and softwares, students really want to know more about the these kinda things. So, reps we can tell more about the F/OSS related things or we can start our talk in any workshop/event with that as I have done in my second workshop than switch over to Web Browser/Firefox things or we can direct them to useful online resources. 10 students want more information about the Mozilla products, some students wrote "Thunderbird", I am really impressed that school students knows about the Thunderbird E-mail Client. So, reps you can also arrange the talk on this topic too. So, that is my whole compiled feedback for my workshops, I hope that will help you in your workshops/events :) I will also blog about my more future workshop feedbacks :) Thanks for reading my Feedback. :) Mozilla Rocks!!
